Entertainment Design: Assignment 1[Progress 3]

Entertainment Design: Assignment 1[Progress 3]
[Movie Teaser Poster]

15th April

Okay. It's time to update my progress about the Movie Teaser Poster.
Perhaps you are miss out my previous posts about the progress, below are the links.

Still using the same flying elephant but different photo of sky.

This is the outcome and it's a proper poster.[Life Goes On]is the title of movie.
The background is from black and white dipping in with color.
I applied the painting dry brush effect on the flying elephant. Besides, I applied the fog glass texture on the top of LIFE, because life is always mystery and we can't see through clearly.
I had show the poster to lecturer. After that I only know that a movie teaser poster shouldn't include the title of movie.
Therefore, I removed the [Life Goes On] and centralise the tagline. Besides, I also added orange gradient on top of the background.
Overall was accepted but the color of flying elephant is too dark, so I will try my best to find/create another flying elephant to replace it.

Coming Friday[19th April] is the submission date of the poster.
I'm still working hard on it.
^v^

Information Design: Infographic Rubrics

Information Design: Infographic Rubrics
[A good and bad Infographic Rubrics]

The importance of infographics are to attract attention and make info easier to understand.
Below are the examples of good and bad info graphics that I found around me.

Good
I found this at One Utama's carpark
*Simple and clear
*Useful and functional
It reminds general audience to SECURE YOUR VEHICLE! and it really works.
[Real life example: My mother left her IPad in the back seat, this infographic reminds her about that and then she back to car and keep it.]

Bad
This is located at USJ 2.
The big problem is the sign shouldn't place here and this made drivers confuse.
The traffic light show U-turn, the sign show cannot make a U-turn.

Lecturer asked us to find a good and a bad example only, but the bad infographics are everywhere.
So, here's another bad example.
This is located at Bukit Tinggi.
The sign show cannot make a U-turn, but U-turn is the only way!

I think Malaysia need to improve how to set the sign at the correct place.

Entertainment Design: Assignment 1[Progress 1]

As what I had mentioned in my previous post, I will use blue and sky to create the poster.
I found some photos that are suitable for my poster.

The combination of the Sky and Balloon.
Unfortunately, the photo is copyrighted and the balloon illustration is too similar to [UP].
With no doubt, I must get other photos to create a poster.

******

Therefore, I found another photo of sky and balloon.
*Note: sky=hope, flying elephant=dare to dream

Here is the outcome.
After I had combined the photos as the above one, I found that this is not suitable for my poster design.
So I'm still searching for better photos.

Entertainment Design: Assignment 1[Progress 1]

Entertainment Design: Assignment 1[Progress 1]
[Movie Teaser Poster]

8th April

Finally I had decided my movie's genre. It is an inspiration fiction that would give hope and courage to people. The story is talking about how a young color blindness man mustered up all his courage to overcome despair, setback and frustration.

Movie’s genre-Inspirational fiction
Title: Life Goes On
Plot
The protagonist, William Ernest, color blindness American artist from Mid North, Texas. In the first section of the story, the main character, William, an adult that is 20 years old, reminisces about his childhood and the following section is talking about the perseverance to become an artist.
William was born in a well-off family. He is the only son of Willbert Ernest and June Adams. His father was a secondary school art teacher and his mother was a housewife. William used to draw when he was a kid because influence by his father. He likes to paint and draw. In fact, William was not congenital color blindness. He can see every color as what others see.  Until he was a teenage, he became color blindness due to an accident. William and his parents are on a holiday in Khao Lak, Thailand. The tsunami triggered by that year’s Indian Ocean earthquake floods the area. His parents wee swept away from them by tsunami and death. William was severely head crash. He lost his parents in the tsunami and he became color blindness caused by shaken baby syndrome. Later, he was sent back to Texas and lives in orphanage because he has no relative.
Color blindness affects quality of life and made William miss out on certain job. He wouldn’t be able to comment on the beauty of a sunset or sunrise. He lost his direction and confidence to chase his dream. People look down on him and never trust that he can be an artist.
Until the last year of his high school he had met Karen, which is a transfer student from another school. Karen loves art as what William did. They both fall for each other and the love story began. She always give support to William and ask him does not abandon himself to despair.
He started to paint through his feeling. Although he is not able to see the color as others see, he paints colorful. He used to paint skies because it’s represented hope. He then succeeds to become a young color blindness artist. Life goes on, no matter what. He gives hope to people.

*****

Here are some poster samples that I will use as a guide for my movie poster.

The similarity of these 3 posters are :
-sky photo
-blue color
Sky and blue are represent hope, that is perfectly match with my movie plot.
